Program: “Starry Skies over Tennessee” will be presented by Theo Wellington who resides in Nashville.
Theo has been interested in space since she was a child and earned her BS in Astronomy from Case Western Reserve University. She is a fifteen-year member of the Nashville Barnard-Seyfret Astronomical Society. She presented shows to the public at the Sudekum Planetarium at the Adventure Science Center in Nashville. Theo is very focused on how our human use of light causes negative impacts in our ability to see starry nights and which also jeopardizes nocturnal animals, plants and insects which puts them at risk. She will discuss causes of light pollution, why we should care, and offer some solutions which give us the light we need while allowing us to enjoy the beautiful views of our starry skies!
